The new Youth Protection Training for Boy Scouts of America adult leaders and parents (familiarly called YPT2) went live online on February 1, 2018. BSA has developed the new programs with the help of some of the greatest experts in the field of child abuse and maltreatment, and using the most current research. The content is much more in-depth and relevant.
The new YPT2 training will be used by everyone. There is only one training and the code will show up on the user’s my.scouting profile as Y01. The training and completion of the post-test should take about 90 minutes and Youth Protection training remains a two-year certification. It is important to note, that everyone registered with the BSA must take the new YPT by October 1, 2018. Currently, there is no facilitator led option, but it is anticipated that materials will be out in late spring.
To take the training go to my.scouting.org, authenticate and follow the links to Youth Protection Training. There is also an optional video from the Chief of the BSA.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with your District Youth Protection Champion. The questions they cannot answer will be passed up to the Council YP Champion and above and we will try to share information as we receive it.
New National policies are being introduced in coordination with the new training being released:
