Shakori District

Shakori District

Shakori District is within Area 2 of Occoneechee Council. Through our Chartering Organizations, Units, and volunteers, we deliver the BSA’s Scouting programs to youth in Orange and Chatham counties in North Carolina.

We have 13 Cub Scout Packs, 17 Boy Scout Troops. We have over 1,100 youth and 500 adult volunteers.

Mission of the Boy Scouts of America

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Scout Oath

Scout Law

On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.  A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Family Scouting

We are excited to announce that our Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA programs are now open to boys and girls. By welcoming both girls and boys into the program, even more youth will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises. This webpage is designed to serve as the single point of information on Scouting for the whole family in Orange and Chatham counties of North Carolina.
